BSF Meghalaya intercepted illicit smuggling activities in two separate operations and confiscated sugar and other contraband items worth more than Rs 11 lakh while being smuggled into Bangladesh.
Acting on specific information, troops of 200 Battalion BSF conducted an operation in the bordering area of Dambukaphal in the West Garo Hills District. The operation led to the confiscation of 5000 kg sugar, a BSF press release today said.
In another operation, troops of the 110 Battalion intercepted a pickup vehicle in the bordering area of Kasinda in the East Khasi Hills district carrying miscellaneous items while being smuggled into Bangladesh.
All confiscated goods were handed over to the respective customs office for further necessary legal actions, it added.
