An awareness programme on the CM-Elevate programme was organised in Mawkyrwat today to highlight different schemes to be implemented by various departments.
Deputy Commissioner Tableland Lyngwa in his keynote address said, “Considering our district is less productive in most agricultural practices, therefore, people have to venture into different livelihood practices such as business/ enterprise”.
He encouraged participants to take the opportunity to apply for various schemes such as home stays, which is much needed in tourist destination of the district.
Lyngwa commended Nongnah village as a picturesque tourist spot but emphasized that the absence of proper home stays and housing facilities could make it less preferable by the tourist. He also encouraged the participants to take up different loans provided for tourism, agricultural etc. and also advised beneficiaries to go through the guidelines and seek clarification from the relevant departments for any difficulties.
He also encouraged the people of the district to make use of the existing Custom Service Centre (CSC)/ Digital Kendra available in feeder town (such as in Photkroh, Ranikor, Mawkyrwat, Balat) and across the district. Additionally, he informed that residents of Nonghyllam and Nongjri village can also avail the services of Office Camp being provided by Ranikor C&RD Block to facilitate application of various incentive provided by the government.
The programme which was held at the Maharam Government HS School was organised by the DPMU, South West Khasi Hills District and attended by heads of departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Tourism and the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency and representatives of banks.
District Project Manager, DPMU Mumie. N. Shangpliang gave an introduction about the programme and encouraged participants to take the opportunity to promote various livelihood activities across the district.
A total of 138 participants, including members of various Cooperative Society, group facilitators under various project, entrepreneur and individuals attended the programme.
