Three people were arrested and 921g of heroin was seized by police in Ri-Bhoi today.
Based on information from a reliable source, police stopped an Assam-registered bus (AS 24 AC 1152) that was proceeding from Silchar to Guwahati near Nongpoh.
During a search, police found the drugs contained within 30 soap boxes. Three people were arrested in connection with the crime, including the driver and handyman. Further inquiries are ongoing.
In North Garo Hills, the anti-narcotic task force arrested a person identified as Helliel K Sangma of Spring Hills in Tura and seized 3.4 grams of heroin from his possession.
