On the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan paid a floral tribute to the “Father of the Nation” and also honoured another prominent figure in India’s history, the second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who also shared a birthday with the Mahatma.
During the event, the Governor inaugurated a book exhibition, which was organised by the National Book Trust of India. This exhibition featured a collection of books related to the life and contributions of Gandhi and unsung heroes in India’s freedom struggle.
In addition to the exhibition, the Chauhan also took the opportunity to release a book titled ‘Pathways to Progress: India’s National Education Policy 2020 Unveiled,’ authored by Sagar Onkarrao Manjare and Sarika Dixit, Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of Mahatma Gandhi University.
