The A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) has written to the government to request for a Public Works Department (Roads) sub-divisional office in Selsella.
The letter was directed to Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who holds the PWD (Roads) portfolio, who was told that a sub-divisional office would help enhance the accessibility and connectivity in rural areas around Selsella.
The lack of such an office has “hindered the timely execution of road maintenance, repair and development projects in the vicinity,” ASWA said.
Having such an office would expedite decision-making and enable swift response to road-related concerns, minimise delays in project execution, tap into local knowledge and understanding of geographical conditions, leading to more contextually appropriate road solutions, boost the region’s socio-economic growth through improved road connectivity, attracting investment and opportunities, positively impact the safety and convenience of residents, ensuring easier access to education, healthcare and other essential services.
