The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaiñtia Hills District, BS Sohliya, today inaugurated the Halfway Home for Rehabilitation of Persons Living with Mental Illness at Sabahmuswang, which will be run by the Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE) and supported by the Department of Social Welfare.
Sohliya inaugurated the centre in the presence of Director of Social Welfare CD Lyngwa, District Social Welfare Officer J Synnah, Deputy Superintendent of Police WC Lyngdoh and SURE secretary HH Mohrmen, among others.
Sohliya assured that the DC’s office, together with the Social Welfare Department and SURE, will try its best to support the halfway home, which currently has 16 staff.
