Meghalaya is experiencing a small increase in Covid-19 cases, with eight recorded in the state today.
West Garo Hills accounted for six of the new cases and West Jaintia Hills two. One death was also recorded in WGH.
There are a total of 17 active cases in the state – WGH 10, East Khasi Hills five and WJH two. Four people are hospitalised with the disease – two in EKH and two in WJH.
The state government is currently confident that the situation is under control. Last week Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that visitors to Meghalaya from high-risk states are only being advised to self-isolate. She also said that members of the public should voluntarily return to certain practices, such as wearing facemasks.
