The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) informed today that Teimiki Sungoh has been nominated by the association to attend the Advance Mountaineering Course at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling.
Sungoh, of Shangpung in West Jaintia Hills, has been sponsored for this course by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. The training will run from April 1 to 28.
MeSCMA said that Sungoh completed his Basic Mountaineering Course from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) in Arunachal Pradesh by securing Grade A, the highest grade possible, and was thus recommended for this advanced training.
The advanced nature of the course means that he has to “be physically and mentally fit and have a positive and adventurous attitude to become a mountaineer, MeSCMA President Malviancy Shabong said in a release.
