All political parties and candidates contesting the Assembly election on February 27 have been reminded that the ‘silent period’ will come into force 48 hours before the close of the poll, wherein all electioneering, campaigning and propagating regarding election issues is prohibited commences from 4pm on February 25.
In light of the same, all political parties and candidates have been directed by the East Khasi Hills District Election Officer to take down, remove and eradicate all such forms of propagation of election matter, such as hoardings, banners, posters, advertisements, etc that they have erected or installed in all polling areas of East Khasi Hills by 4pm on February 25.
Failure to do so will be dealt with as per provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1951.
