Police in Shillong arrested four people on suspicion of being involved in the theft of mobile phones on Friday night.
Based on credible intelligence, the police conducted a raid in different locations of the city, which went on until the morning of the next day and recovered 23 mobile phones that are thought to have been stolen.
Also seized was one soap case containing powder suspected to be heroin (weighing 9.65g), 84 empty plastic vials, 26 syringes, 14 empty golden tobacco tins and Rs 5,920 in cash.
The four have been arrested, though their names were not revealed by police, and investigations are underway to uncover the inter-state gang believed to be involved in purchasing and selling stolen mobiles.
The recovered stolen mobiles will be returned to their rightful owners after legal formalities.
