The District Election Officer, Ri-Bhoi District, has informed that it has come to his notice that certain meetings were held in the Assembly constituencies of Ri-Bhoi without seeking permission from the Returning Officer which is against the model code of conduct and also affects the level playing field for contesting candidates.
“Strict action has been taken against those erring candidates and show-cause notices have been issued as per the Representation of People Act,” the District Election Officer said.
He also requested the general public to inform of any model code of conduct violation through cvgil app/1950 so as to enable the office of the District Election Officer to take immediate action.
