VPP Spokesperson Dr. Batskhem Myrboh has said that despite the aggressive campaigns and various promises made by the larger parties ahead of the polls, none has committed on strengthening the exchequer of the State, revenue leakages and wastage of public money.
“These promises made to the public by these parties without assuring that there would not be wastage of money can put the state in great debt which is dangerous,” he told HP.
He also said that the MDA schemes do not seem like schemes that will bring overall developments in the state but more like schemes to buy votes and total wastage.
Referring to the distribution of piglets under the Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme of National Livestock Mission, he said, “Under this schemes the piglets are bought from other states and many are also reportedly dead since the piglets brought from other states are not suitable to the colder climatic conditions of the state which means that the state have to bear the losses.”
“If they have really wanted to uplift the farmers in our state then for the last five years they should have instead promoted and encourage pig farmers to produce the piglets in the state itself before the government buys piglets from farmers and distribute it. In this way our farmers economy will rise and the state will also become self-sufficient,” he said, adding that the piglets bought from outside has only bring more losses to the farmers of the state who are now finding it difficult to sell their piglets.
He also took a dig at the FOCUS scheme saying that when there is no mechanism to follow up the scheme transferred to the account of the beneficiaries and no system to monitor if the target is being met, then such assistance becomes wastage or can be misused with no economic transformation or real objective.
“When parents give their children money to buy books then they have to ensure that the books are being bought. If you give money just for giving sake then just say that you are giving money because you are in power and no need to mislead the people that it is for this and that,” he said.
He said the same goes with the various schemes promised by the TMC which can only turn out to be unsustainable expenditure that will not bring real benefit to the state in the long run.
Myrboh also has termed the double engine claimed by the state BJP as an illusion without reality.
“When the economy in the entire country went down the moment the BJP came into power, then what kind of double engine are the party talking about,” he said.
He said unemployment and poverty have only risen under the BJP rule with no transformation even as he recalled the impact the country faced with all the BJP policies like demonetization, GST, etc.
He expressed fear that the bigger parties will only further burden the state that is already in great debt.
