A workshop on building perspectives on reporting and documenting human interest stories and social issues was conducted for fellows, associates and program teams of the Chief Minister’s Youth Centre and other projects of Sauramandala Foundation at Prime Hub here today.
The one-day workshop was designed to add value, quality and perspectives to stories that come out of rural Meghalaya, especially from the communities that the CMYC and the rural entrepreneurs are catering to.
Representatives of People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), a multimedia digital journalism platform, Priti David and Vishaka George were invited to conduct the workshop.
Priti David spoke on the nuances of reporting and stressed on the importance of removing the writer from the story and said, “We don’t need to editorialise our stories. Who are we to push our opinions on the stories that the people are telling about themselves”.
