The state government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the lynching of 4 prisoners by a mob yesterday at Shangpung in West Jaiñtia Hills district.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui during a suo moto statement in the Assembly today said Additional district magistrate BK Boro will head the magisterial probe.
The report will be submitted on September 19, while a separate police inquiry is also on.
Among those lynched by the mob, included I Love You Talang, Lodestar Tang, Marsanki Tariang (convict) and Shidor Dkhar.
While the fifth prisoner Ramesh Dkhar escaped from the crowd, another prisoner, Rikamenlang Lamare was not part of the group.
