The Indian Chamber of Commerce will organise the North East Water Conclave at the State Convention Centre here on Friday.
With the region being distinguished with some of the heaviest rainfall in the world, due to its geographical location, much still needs to be done to improve water quality and availability, especially during the dry season, as runoff in hilly terrain is rapid and springs and small streams soon dry up when there is no rain.
State and central governments are pushing for complete potable water supply through the Jal Jeevan Mission to try and alleviate the problems of supply.
The conclave will deliberate on two major themes – upgrading water and waste water infrastructure and leakages in water conveyance lines and storage.
Public Health Engineering Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will be the chief guest at the event.
