A hall dedicated to boxers was inaugurated at Nongkseh, Upper Shillong today by Mylliem MLA, Hamletson Dohling.
The training space was constructed on a land donated by Moralin Thangkhiew and her family.
Dohling lauded the Thangkhiew family for their generosity for not only donating the land, but also in assisting to construct the building.
He also lauded the Upper Shillong Boxing Association (USBA) for training youth in the sports and hoped that they will compete in many tournaments in and outside the state.
Urging youth to shun from bad habits the MLA informed about financial assistance provided under Yess Meghalaya, whereby the state government provides Rs 1 lakh to organisations that work with the youth.
At the function, the USBA also felicitated boxers who had won medals in different boxing tournaments held both at the state and national levels.
The MLA also donated Rs.1 lakh to the association.
