A total of 214 participants who took part in the 48th Annual Cultural Competition organised by the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre were awarded today.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at the centre in Quinton Road. The event drew more than 2000 enrollments from 47 different institutes located in and around the city and around 1500 students participated in the competition.
Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong has been organizing this competition for the last 48 years for the budding talents of the region by providing them a platform to showcase their potential.
Retired Indian Ambassador and Diplomat, Rudi Warjri who attended the function as the chief guest spoke about the importance of religion, relationships, education and above all culture in one’s life. He also emphasized learning the mother tongue and giving equal importance to English that we learn in pursuit of success and popularity. Our mother language is spontaneous, bears the nuances of culture, and is the language in which we communicate with God.
Earlier, Swami Hitakamanandaji Maharaj welcomed everyone to the ceremony and Swami Divyaswarupananda Maharaj proposed the vote of thanks.
