As part of the ongoing ‘Locality Beautification and Enhancement Competition’, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner’s office opened an online voting platform for the competition today.
The winning localities will be decided by a combination of online voting via www.beautyshillong.com and an expert panel.
The locality that takes first prize will receive Rs 5 lakh, with Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for second and third places respectively.
Apart from the best locality prize, online voters can also pick the best display of street art on the website. Citizens of Shillong are encouraged to visit the website and cast their vote. The prize money will be used by the localities for further improvement of the locality spaces, as per their priorities and requirements, a release stated today.
