The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) in Khliehriat has lodged a FIR with police about a truck allegedly involved in ferrying Myanmarese supari (dried areca nut) by producing a challan meant to transport rice.
According to the organisation, the truck bearing registration number AS 11 DC 6599 was smuggling supari by covering them with rice packets.
“We also gathered information that the truck was detained at Khliehriat police station, but surprisingly the police in charge do not know about the detention,” the FKJGP said in the FIR lodged with the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Meanwhile, when contacted police said that the truck was detained and investigation is on, even as the copy of the FIR has not reached the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
