In commemoration of Meghalaya’s 50th year of statehood, Sankardev College organised a programme today at the college campus.
Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Titosstarwell Chyne, was the chief guest.
The programme included a discussion on the theme ‘Meghalaya’s Journey to Statehood’ and the panelists were Moses Kharbithai, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Assam University, Silchar. Journalist Patricia Mukhim and Jaiaw MDC Paul Lyngdoh were also present.
During the programme, a documentary on statehood titled ‘Meghalaya’s Journey: Visions, Achievements and Challenges’ was released by Chyne. ‘Ki Snap Jingngeit U Khasi’, a book by BL Mawphlang, Assistant Professor, Department of Khasi, was also released. Simultaneously, there was an induction of the book, ‘Glimpses on Political Developments in Meghalaya’, authored by EM Tariang, Head of the Department of Political Science, Sankardev College into the college library.
This programme was organised as part of the diamond jubilee celebration of the college.
