Three Africans were arrested by West Jaintia Hills district police for coming to Meghalaya without possessing any valid documents.
According to police, a Toyota Innova vehicle bearing registration number ML 05 T 3049 carrying six African nationals was stopped by police personnel at Ummulong on National Highway-6.
The Africans were proceeding to East Jaintia Hills to participate in a football tournament in Mosiang Lamare village.
Out of the six African nationals, three possessed valid travel documents and were released. They are Enock Kwabena (29) from Ghana, Olaleye Joseph Mayowa (26) from Nigeria and Moses Zutah (24) from Ghana
Three others who have no valid travel documents have been detained by police and a cognizable case has been registered against them under appropriate sections of the law.
They are Guilavogui Victor (25) from Guinea, Kehinde Edris Olayimka (26) from Liberia and Vidal Luis Chissano (25) from Mozambique.
