Headmen and leaders from various villages in Ri Bhoi district were left disappointed as they were not allowed to meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to raise their concerns on the border deal, the State entered with Assam.
Seven headmen of inter-state boundary villages with Assam reached the Main Secretariat today, but were sent away from the entrance even though the chief minister was present in his office.
Maikhuli village headman, Kleden Sangma they are hurt by the mis-treatment. He maintained that they will never be part of Assam even if they have to protest or knock the doors of the Supreme Court.
Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) members had accompanied the headmen. Its president, Adrian Chyne Mylliem said that they have come out to protest against the decision taken by the government.
He said the border deal was entered without consultations and amounts to “foul play.”
