The All India Trinamool Congress-Meghalaya (AITC-M) today constituted its block committee in Pynursla with Jiten Khongwieng as the block president.
With 15 members, the block committee will be led by Jiten Khongwieng as president and Playness Khiewtan as general secretary.
A formal oath-taking ceremony was held at the Neng Gate Hall in the presence of James Lyngdoh, Vice-President, AITC Meghalaya state and Iohdorlang, President, Sohra Block Committee.
Former Congress Youth President Bansharai Pyngrope, who is all set to join AITC was also present at the event. Condemning the ruling party for misinforming people on AITC as foreign to Meghalaya, he reminded that Conrad Sangma’s father and former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, P.A. Sangma, was an elected MP from AITC back in his day.
The AITC vice president attacked the BJP government for relentlessly passing bills against the interests of the people of the country. He also criticised the NPP government and its leaders for their hypocrisy of raising farmer’s issues in the assembly but siding with the anti-farmer party, the BJP.
Khongweing said that they will take AITC to the grass roots of Meghalaya. In addition, he praised AITC chief, Mamata Banerjee, for fighting against the authoritarian BJP rule and its discriminatory laws.
