The Khliehriat circle of the East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC) forced a shop run by a non-tribal to close today.
In a release, the EJNC said that a girl was the victim of harassment or even attempted rape by a shopkeeper who were arrested by police recently.
However, that shopkeeper’s establishment continued to remain open, with a family member running it. Unhappy with this, members the public informed the EJNC, who, led by unit general secretary Mebanteilang Sukhlain and president Shanborlang Bamon, went to that shop and found that it does not have the required documentation to function. It was thus forced to close by the pressure group.
