The 55 Battalion (BN) of the BSF at the Rasnagri and Netri Border Outposts (BOP) last night thwarted two attempts by cross border smugglers to smuggle sarees worth approximately Rs 31 lakhs into neighbouring Bangladesh.
In the first seizure, troops of Netri BOP seized sarees worth Rs 2799800 while in the second such success, clothes worth about Rs 386300. Both seizures were undertaken by the 55 BN of the security forces.
Both incidents fall under the jurisdiction of the district of South Garo Hills under Baghmara PS. BSF sources confirmed that the seized goods were later handed over to the authorities for further action. No arrests have so far been made in the case.
