A shortage of staff and deficiencies in services provided at Tura Civil Hospital is leading to the avoidable loss of life, the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has told the Chief Minister.
In a letter dated today, AHAM informed the CM that the hospital is short of two anaesthetists, which is hampering surgeries. The pressure group also said that the intensive care unit (ICU) requires 22 staff – four doctors, eight nurses, four ICU technicians, four attendants and two sweepers.
The dialysis unit has a shortfall of 16 staff, AHAM added, which has caused the unit to be “almost paralysed for years”.
The pressure group also demanded that the government create a geriatric ward at the hospital and fill the vacancies for two laboratory technicians.
