Congress legislator PT Sawkmie has called upon the public not to panic over the arrival of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in Meghalaya.
The first Omicron cases were reported on Tuesday and Covid-19 cases (of all variants) have been rising sharply in the state over the last few days. Mawlai, of which Sawkmie is the MLA, today reported 11 new cases.
“Omicron is Covid and we don’t have to panic. We have experienced Covid for the past two years and all we need to do is religiously follow the protocols and cooperate with the government and stay protected,” he said.
