For the third time, the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society (MGPS) and Shillong Club Ltd hosted the Shillong Junior Boys Golf championship organised by the Indian Golf Union (IGU) which commenced today.
The championship is being organised in collaboration with the State department of sports and youth affairs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Meghalaya statehood and will conclude on November 19.
Two of top juniors of the nation playing this event are Shat Mishra and Sagar Uppal. Both of them will have to face stiff challenges from the local favourites Siddhant Singhania and Shaurya Goenka who have the advantage of playing in their home course. Along with the duo, Assam’s Ambarish Bora will be the third junior representing North East in this event.
MGPS secretary, Michael Hek said, “Hosting of such events keeps the Golf Course in good shape and also contributes to the economy of the State.”
