Various pressure groups from the village of Rongjeng in East Garo Hills have written to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informing him of the problems being faced by the residents of the area.
The NGOs, including the GSU, GSMC, ASWA, FKJGP, AAYF and RYWA, sought the completion of the Rongjeng Naringgre Residential School that has been in limbo for quite some time now. The project was started in the year 2012 and even after nine years remains incomplete.
“The residential school was sanctioned in 2012 and its non-completion is hurting the people of the area. Once completed it will be a boon for many from our region but the delay is inexplicable,” said the NGOs.
A demand for the setting up of an exam centre in Rongjeng for the HS School leaving certificate exam was also demanded by the NGOs.
Lamenting the lack of officers in the Rongmil OGC, the NGOs said the police post has been without an officer since the past two years and the absence was hurting the people of the area as verification needs are not being addressed.
“We also demand the upgrade of the health sub centre in Rongmil to a primary health centre,” added the NGOs through their memo.
