Peeved with apparent inaction of the department concerned to repair a dilapidated 9km road from Bhoirymbong to Kyrdem village, the Dorbar Raid Madan Kyrdem took matters into its own hands and repaired the road today in order to improve the situation for residents.
It has been several years since the road was last repaired. Today’s efforts were supported by the Khasi Students Union.
“This is the first time that we have made voluntary repairs,” Pholning Makdoh, a traditional leader of Raid Madan Kyrdem, said, adding that the road is used by the residents of 18 villages on a daily basis.
