Newly formed ‘Sur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep’, a conglomeration of several NGOs in Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills today approached leaders of the UDP and urged them to take up the appeal letter sent to the State government on suspension of police officers involved in killing the ex-militant leader, Cherishterfield Thangkhiew.
The organisation led by its chairman Sylvester Kurbah met UDP chief adviser Bindo M. Lanong, working president Paul Lyngdoh and general secretary Jemino Mawthoh.
Marbud Dkhar, secretary of the organisation stated that the demand for suspension of the police officers was the voice of the people who wants a fair and clean judicial enquiry.
Dkhar said that the UDP leaders assured that the demand will be taken up with the MDA government, which they are part of.
