A teenager who reportedly went missing from South West Khasi Hills district was today traced in Maheshkhola village under South Garo Hills district.
The family of the 13-year old girl had filed an FIR with police alleging that their daughter was kidnapped by Mohibul Ali of Kantapara Assam on August 28.
After a case was registered at Nonghyllam police station, a team of policemen was detailed for search and rescue and traced both the accused and the victim at Maheshkhola.
Police said while the accused was arrested, the teenager was handed to the family. While the case appears to have been elopement, police added that investigation is on.
