The All Garo Hills Joint Action Committee (AGHJAC) today met Robin Hibu, the special commissioner of Delhi Police, at his office in the national capital to discuss matters pertaining to racial discrimination of people from the North Eastern states as well as to seek an update into the investigation of the deaths of Rose Sangma and her nephew Samuel Sangma.
Rose and Samuel, two people from the Garo community, died under mysterious circumstances in the National Capital Region, leading to a huge outcry. Following the furore, the Union Home Department has ordered a CBI inquiry into the deaths.
While Rose died in hospital in Gurugram, Samuel was declared dead by suicide in a hotel in Green Park area of New Delhi.
“We have had a serious discussion on both issues and have urged both the Delhi and Gurugram police to speed up the investigation so that the family can get justice,” said adviser of AGHJAC, Roger Benny A Sangma.
The AGHJAC will further meet Union Ministers and the Women’s Commission to escalate the matter and seek justice for the victims.
“We will raise the issue with all the concerned MPs of North Eastern states,” said convenor, Balkarin Marak.
