Employees of the GHADC under the banner of the NGEA have condemned the show cause notice issued by the principal secretary of the GHADC threatening to suspend them from services over alleged violation of Covid-19 protocols.
The NGEA asserted that the motive behind the move was to try and intimidate the executive members of the NGEA from raising their voices.
“NGEA has been fighting for various issues including full payment of our pending salaries for about two years and seven months. We held a formal meeting on July 22, following all Covid norms to discuss the various issues pertaining to non-fulfilment of the promises given by CEM of GHADC on Jun 4, in public,” said the NGEA members.
The employees’ body maintained that the principal secretary was taking advantage of every small mistake done by the leaders of NGEA and leaving no stone unturned to oppress and suppress their voice.
“He is trying to point finger at the leaders of NGEA by making wild allegations but has totally forgotten and ignored his own illegal action whereby he has been selfishly clinging on to his post even after retirement from his service,” they added.
The NGEA alleged that the term of the principal secretary has been extended three times illegally even after retirement.
“We appreciate his insistence on us Covid-19 protocols but we strongly condemn when he is selective,” they stated.
As per the employees, on June 4, when the NGEA was holding agitations for non-payment of salaries, the CEM of GHADC had called and invited different NGOs, staff/employees of GHADC for a general meeting and for dialogue. However, then no Covid-19 protocols, norms, restrictions were followed nor guidelines given.
“They even did not take permission from the DC prior to holding the meeting. Thereby the principal secretary and higher authorities of GHADC have totally violated all protocols and guidelines issued,” they alleged.
The NGEA asserted that it would continue to demand his removal as he had no moral right to continue to hold his post.
“We will continue to fight against injustice meted upon the staff/employees and leaders of NGEA, no matter what and comes. The CEM had assured to fulfil all our demands and also promised to give a written assurance but shockingly till date is given. We will give this week for the fulfilment of his promises and to withdraw the show cause notice issued to us. If they fail to do so we have no alternative choice but to resume our agitation,” threatened the NGEA members.
