The seven-day rolling average of new Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya today hit its lowest point since May 13, now standing at 421.71. There were 273 new infections recorded today (the lowest single-day figure since June 21), 523 recoveries and five Covid-related fatalities.
East Khasi Hills reported 98 new infections. With 97 yesterday, this was the first time since April 26-27 that the district saw two consecutive days of fewer than 100 cases.
Meanwhile, Ri-Bhoi recorded 55 new cases, West Garo Hills 51, West Jaiñtia Hills 32, North Garo Hills 13, South Garo Hills eight, East Garo Hills seven, West Khasi Hills four, East Jaiñtia Hills three and South West Garo Hills two.
Ri-Bhoi reported 155 recoveries, East Khasi Hills 125, West Garo Hills 77, West Jaiñtia Hills 48, North Garo Hills 39, West Khasi Hills 24, East Garo Hills 16, South West Khasi Hills 13, East Jaiñtia Hills 12, South Garo Hills seven and South West Garo Hills seven.
Three fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills, along with one each in West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.
There are now 4,110 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,304 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 787, West Garo Hills 610, West Jaiñtia Hills 511, West Khasi Hills 244, North Garo Hills 163, East Jaiñtia Hills 115, East Garo Hills 113, South West Khasi Hills 98, South Garo Hills 98 and South West Garo Hills 67.
In all, Meghalaya has had 54,853 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,110 are active, 49,830 have recovered and 913 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 90.84 percent. The fatality rate has stayed level at 1.66 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has declined to 421.71 and has dipped for new deaths to 6.00.
