A reservoir water tank in Dolu, East Garo Hills, could collapse because of its poor construction, risking lives in the area, the Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) warned today.
In a letter to the Public Health Engineering Department, the pressure group claimed that the tank was not constructed properly, with the foundations insufficiently deep enough. Water has been leaking from the tank, which could be a precursor for a collapse of the tank walls, it added.
The pipes used to connect the public to the reservoir are also deficient, the FKJGP stated.
