The Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) unit in South West Khasi Hills has claimed to have confirmed information about vacant teacher posts number over 100 in the district.
In this respect, the pressure group has demanded that the state government appoint teachers in the schools to fill up the 121 vacancies.
Stating that students in these schools are made scapegoats because of the lack of seriousness from the government to fill the vacant posts, Balise Kharbani, local general secretary of the FKJGP, said, “The interview for the same was conducted on February 15, 2021, and more than 100 candidates have got through the interview but, to date, no appointment has been made.”
Even though the government directed schools to open from April 1, this delay in appointment of teachers has badly affected the students who come from poor families and who cannot possibly afford to attend private schools, he added.
