Chief Minister and National President of NPP Conrad K Sangma has expressed confidence that his party will run a stable and viable Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Sangma who is in the Garo Hills region for the last 12 days to drum support for his candidates vying in the upcoming district council elections said, “GHADC needs attention. The situation in the council is not very good. They need support from the State and Centre. So it is important that the ruling party is given the mandate… so that the government can support and aid the district council.”
Stating that the NPP is committed to the cause of the people and is aggressively working to create better facilities and livelihood opportunities he said, the district council which plays a vital role in preserving the customs and traditions of the people needs to be strengthened and empowered.
“We have a plan to reform the council. We want council to be stable and viable. We promise to create a better environment in the council, and enable them to perform their mandated duties”, he added.
In Keragalram under Damas GHADC constituency in North Garo Hills the NPP president also submitted a “memorandum” to the people who attended the campaign to seek votes. “Accept my memorandum to elect NPP candidates and we will work together to better the facilities for our people,” Sangma said.
In Rangagora under Bolsong GHADC constituency in North Garo Hills, Sangma made a commitment to create better road infrastructure. “Our government is working to make a difference for our people. We have started our mission to transform Meghalaya and in the next two years, more initiatives will be taken up to better the lives of our people,” he said.
He also informed that in the last three years, amount to the tune of about 2000 cr was invested for enhancing and improving road connectivity in Garo Hills, including neglected roads and bridges in Garo Hills being sanctioned.
“Opposition parties will come and spread lies, but we have before us the visibility and development interventions being made by the ruling government,” he added.
