A 41-year-old man became the 150th Covid-related fatality in Meghalaya.
Desking Rangslang, of Mawdiangdiang, was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on Wednesday and died yesterday. His death was reported today.
Cause of death was Covid-19 pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
On admission, Rangslang tested negative using the Rapid Antigen Test but Truenat returned a positive result for Covid-19. He had complained of shortness of breath for two days prior to admission. He was also receiving treatment “by a quack” for a separate ailment.
There were also three new cases (two in East Khasi Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi) and one recovery in Ri Bhoi district from the disease.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,022 Covid-19 cases, of which 23 are active, 13,849 have recovered and 150 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 98.77 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.07 per cent.
