Several programmes have been lined up by the Headquarters 101 Area to commemorate the 50th anniversary of India-Pak War.
The celebrations, also called ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ will take off with a weapons and equipment display cum awareness programme on ‘Know Your Armed Forces’ for three days from March 25 to 27 at Polo Grounds, Shillong.
During the event, Indian Army, Air Force and Assam Rifles will be displaying various weapons and equipment being used by Indian Armed Forces for the students, NCC cadets and local populace of the area. In addition, a ‘Career Guidance Programme’ on how to join Indian Armed Forces for students and NCC cadets will also be organised by a dedicated team of experts during the event.
The event will be open for students and NCC cadets on March 25 and for all public from March 26 to 27 from 10 am to 4 pm.
From April to August, 101 Area has also scheduled screening of a movie on 1971 war in schools and colleges, a band concert in May, a move of victory flam in August-September, football championship, David Scott Trail trekking, cycling expedition and others.
