The office of the District Planning Officer of South West Khasi Hills and the State Council of Science Technology and Environment organised a National Science Day programme here today on the theme of ‘Future of STI-Impact on Education, Skills and Works’.
District Planning Officer W Biam that the aim of the celebration is to create awareness to students about the importance of science and technology, to engage young students with exciting materials, to motivate students to use innovative and creative ideas in their studies and quest for knowledge and in turn to improve our human resources for the growth and development of our society at large.
National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28 each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist CV Raman in 1928. February 28 this year falls on a Sunday, precipitating the need for the celebrations today.
