Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that if the citizens of Meghalaya want to see development especially in the rural areas then they should change their mindset.
“We have to change our mindset. I want to tell you all especially the youth now that the fight is with your minds not muscle power,” Tynsong said during the inauguration of the Wahrew Bridge yesterday.
The Deputy Chief Minister also asked the gathering just by assaulting or chasing someone who is from another community does that prove the love from the indigenous community.
He pointed out that in earlier days, local contractors were not able to take up works amounting to Rs 3 crores or Rs. 4 crore but today they are able to take up work even up to Rs. 100 crore.
“So won’t you feel proud now? I do,” Tynsong said.
However, the Deputy Chief Minister said that local labourers are hard to find even as he urged the people of the State to allow labourers from outside to work.
“Local labourers are hard to find because they get more money doing agricultural works,” he added.
Tynsong also said that labour force from outside the State should be allowed to come to Meghalaya and once their work is done they can go back.
“I urge the traditional heads the women folks and the youth to not be misled,” Tynsong said.
