Agriculture Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh today inaugurated the Veterinary Dispensary at Thangsning village in East Khasi Hills district.
The dispensary was the upgrade of the Veterinary Aid Centre and was constructed under RIDF-XXIV at a project cost of Rs. 1, 45, 78, 000.
In his inaugural speech, Lyngdoh said that the dispensary will cater to the health needs of the livestock in the area. He said that a majority of the population in Thangsning are livestock farmers, especially piggery and there is a need to have an accessible animal health care facility.
Lyngdoh expressed hope that the people of the village and its adjoining areas will greatly benefit from the dispensary and urged the public to extend their cooperation in making government plans and schemes successful.
Minister Community and Rural Development, Hamletson Dohling, in his speech said that development can come only when people and government work unitedly.
Dohling also said that the government has come up with various livestock mission, which has the potential to raise the income of the farming community and generate employment opportunities.
He therefore, called upon the people of the area to take up livestock farming in a large scale to meet the demand in the State.
