Shillong, Oct 12: The Meghalaya cabinet on Monday decided that elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) would not be held so soon due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, and recommended to the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to take over the Council till a date is announced for holding fresh elections.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting today. Conrad K Sangma said that the elections to the GHADC have to be postponed in view of the COVID-19 situation, and the Governor will take over the affairs of the Council.
