Mawkyrwat, Nov 5: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Mawkyrwat Circle, has objected to the transfer and posting of Dhananjay Upadhya as Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), Mawkyrwat.
In a memorandum to the Commissioner & Secretary, Education Department, through the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills, KSU said the objection was not personal but in public interest, concerning representation in the administration.
The union demanded that the post be considered for a qualified Khasi officer familiar with the local geography, social realities, cultural background and educational challenges of the predominantly Khasi-inhabited district.
It said a local officer would ensure better communication with schools, teachers, parents and traditional institutions.
