Shillong, Oct 14: The Gauhati Press Club has condemned the alleged assault on journalists by police during an anti-CEC protest coverage in New Delhi.
The club said visuals show journalists were targeted despite showing press ID cards, with digital media journalists allegedly singled out and harassed, raising serious concerns over press freedom and safety.
Condemning the obstruction of journalists on duty, the press club has called for a peaceful protest rally on Saturday on its premises.
President Khagen Kalita and General Secretary Amarendra Deka have urged all journalists and media professionals to join to strengthen the collective voice for journalists’ rights and press freedom.
