Shillong, Oct 5: The 55th All India Food Corporation of India (FCI) Inter-Zonal Football Tournament got underway at SAI Football Ground, NEHU Campus, here on Sunday.
The five-day tournament, being held from October 5 to 9, has brought together football teams representing different zones of FCI for competitive football, sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The tournament is being organised by the Regional Sports Promotion Committee (RSPC), NEF Region with support from Zonal Sports Promotion Committee (ZSPC), Guwahati and sponsored by Sports Promotion Board (SPB), FCI headquarters.
One of the key events in FCI’s annual sports calendar, the Inter-Zonal Tournament provides employees from different zones a platform to showcase footballing skills while promoting teamwork, discipline, fitness and healthy competition, besides strengthening fellowship among employees from across the country.
The closing ceremony and prize distribution will be held on October 9.
