Shillong, Oct 3: Striving to be an asset rather than a liability and becoming the best version of oneself were among 15 life lessons shared by IAS officer and Director Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute Swapnil Tembe, at the Graduation Programme of Shillong College for the Class of 2026.
Tembe, who was the Chief Guest at the programme, encouraged the graduates to approach the future with purpose, responsibility and willingness to continually improve themselves, urging them to contribute positively wherever they find themselves and become individuals upon whom others can depend.
The programme marked an important milestone for the graduating students and the college community. It commenced with the Graduation Parade followed by the College Anthem and Invocation led by Vice Principal E N Dkhar. Principal Shanwell Khongwir delivered the Welcome Address.
Staff completing 25 years of service were felicitated by Guest of Honour Prof R Nongkhlaw, Controller of Examinations, NEHU and President of the Governing Body. Prof Nongkhlaw also delivered the Exhortation, addressing students on the significance of their academic journey and responsibilities ahead.
The Valedictory Address was delivered by Pynhiammiki Ryngksai of the Department of Microbiology, Class of 2026, representing the graduating batch.
One of the highlights was the Presentation of Academic Awards by the Chief Guest recognising students for academic achievements. The graduates were later felicitated by respective Heads of Departments.
