Shillong, Oct 3: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) in collaboration with the High Court of Meghalaya Mediation Committee launched the Garo version of the NALSA theme song “Ek Mutthi Aasman” and a short educational film on community mediation.
The dual launch took place during a Mega Camp-cum-Seminar on Mediation and Community Mediation held at Jengjal on Friday.
Developed by MSLSA under the Department of Justice, Government of India, the animated film focuses on the benefits of community mediation. It is a core component of the project “Increasing Access to Justice through Community Mediation” which aims to create awareness about amicable settlement of local disputes such as land disputes and disagreements among neighbours within the community.
The film highlights mediation as a preferred alternative to formal litigation that saves time and financial resources and prevents neighbours from turning into lifelong enemies.
The Garo adaptation of the NALSA theme song and the animated film were launched by Justice H S Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman of MSLSA, and Justice W Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee.
The mega camp drew a large gathering of local residents, community leaders, officials from various departments and legal stakeholders.
