Khliehriat, Sep 16: The Special POCSO Court, East Jaintia Hills convicted and sentenced one Coming Massar to 25 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor.
Judge B. Khriam found the accused guilty of the crime committed in 2020. In a verdict recently, the court also imposed a fine of ₹25,000. He was further sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 506 IPC for criminal intimidation.
According to police, a case against Massar was lodged at Khliehriat Women Police Station under Section 376(3)/506 IPC r/w Sec 5(l)(n)/6 POCSO Act.
Massar was arrested during investigation. The charge sheet was filed on January 18, 2021.
